Artists?
“Divergent Artists” collectively refers to folks self-identifying as living along the spectrums of disability, neurodivergence, and mad identities. We welcome artists of any discipline, at any point in their careers - working, haven’t worked in a while, emerging, and aspiring.
Just Culture Club is a free, facilitated monthly gathering of divergent artists. Come and spend time together, connect with artists across disciplines and experiences, and learn through hands-on exercises, skill exchange, facilitated discussion, and presentations by guest speakers. We aim to cast a wide net with these meetings
Each month has a specific focus alternating between skill building and introductions to Disability Culture. Programmed content will take about 2 hours, with time for social connection before and after. The gatherings are free to participate, and happen in the evening on the first Monday of each month. We are excited to host them at the Erratics Indie Arts Club.
Whether disability, neurodivergence, or mad identity has been a part of your artistic practice for a long time, or you are newly exploring this part of yourself, this group is open to you. Come gain practical tools, build and strengthen relationships, and develop a shared understanding of disability justice and culture with other artists in Mohkinstsis.

Once you’ve joined the club you will receive a registration link for the next monthly session, sent directly to your inbox. Registration is first come first serve, with a waitlist once we reach our capacity. (30 spots are available for each gathering).

Facilitated by Javelin Lawrence
Javelin is an actor and occasional writer born and raised in Treaty 7. They are an ICF coach candidate and group facilitator with a diploma in Professional Counselling, a BA in Psychology, and 10+ years working in the Calgary theatre and film industries.
They discovered the language to describe their neurodivergence as an adult, and now passionately work with creatives of all sorts seeking to build sustainable lives that work with their brains, not against them.
