Europe, 1939. Adolf Hitler's armies are conquering nation after nation, and in the face of the Nazi threat, Canadian millionaire William Stephenson convinces Churchill and Roosevelt to combine forces in a joint covert effort. Stephenson assembles an elite team of spies, including the unlikeliest of agents: six irrepressible young women. THE INVISIBLE- AGENTS OF UNGENTLEMANLY WARFARE  is their story, a "spy noir musical" that seeks to answer: just who were these bold women and why would they sacrifice their very lives for a war that refused to accept them or recognize them? Catalyst Theatre, creators of the hit musical NEVERMORE, brings another dazzling world premiere to Vertigo Theatre.

Audio Description & Touch Tour - Giant

Ghost River Theatre presents Giant

Giant Box Office Teaser Image (Med Res).jpg

Part of the Festival of Animated Objects

GIANT is the amazing story of professional wrestler André the Giant, one of the most recognizable and beloved public figures ever, told from the perspective of the one person he left behind.

A cast of five women tells the story with a raucous high theatricality that bodyslams professional wrestling’s hyper-masculine culture.  Ghost River’s trademark collaborative approach to theatre means that design, direction, script and performance all work together to stage an unstageable protagonist (7’4” and 520 pounds!), using the language of theatrical scale to express the extraordinary life of a person of extraordinary size.

LOCATION: The GRAND Theatre - 608 1st St SW

RUNNING TIME: 90 Minutes

Alberta Theatre Projects presents The New Canadian Curling Club

The New Canadian Curling Club tells the story of a Chinese physician, a Jamaican Tim Horton’s manager, a South Asian father, and a 17-year old Syrian refugee who live in a rural Albertan town. In an effort to welcome newcomers to Canada, the community decides to offer a free, “Learn to Curl” program. But when its organizer slips on the ice and breaks her hip, the rink’s ice custodian and former champion curler Stuart MacPhail is forced to step in as head coach. Trouble is, Stuart has some strong opinions about immigrants—opinions he has trouble keeping to himself. What follows is the hilarious and inspiring story of a group of unlikely athletes who face off against local prejudice and become a true team.
